32. In Mourning

In Mourning

36th of Shar 358

Today, Fathom asked me for one of my sending slates. I didn't feel like saying anything so I gave him it and just laid on the floor for a while. A thought crossed my mind. I should make a shrine in Åsmund's memory. It was around afternoon when I made this decision, finally leaving my hotel room to head to the mechanomancer's shop.

As I looked around for somewhere suitable, I found the stone wall next to Yvette's shop. I looked around cautiously before taking out the dagger my father gave me, using it and my mess kit box to etch into the stone. I'm surprised no one approached me while I did this. I etched into the stone "In memory of Åsmund; 34th of Shar 358." I looked through my book of pressed flowers, taking out a few from my first travels with him. I span them between my hands, letting them fluff back out. I took the cup out of my mess kit and filled it with water, placing the flowers into it. I let out a sigh, feeling a bit better after doing something with my day. I made a promise out loud, telling Åsmund that I would come and visit as often as I can until we leave Zetsubou, whenever that may be. And when I return to Zetsubou again in the future, this will be the first place I go. I sat next to this little shrine I made, looking up at the stars and the lights of the city. I sat there until sunset, holding the slate in hand.
