26. Arrival in Zetsubou
Arrival in Zetsubou
33rd of Shar 358
I started to head back to the lobby where we last saw Agabarya after I finished my letter. The others were already there and he appeared not long after, holding a black handkerchief. He apologized for taking so long but hopes it will be worth our while. He picked out some things he thought we would appreciate and that he can give us something else if we wish and its within his power. Hornet asks about being sent here from their previous realm and their markings. To Agabarya, it sounds like their life was spared or saved and was given the markings as a result. Maybe we will find someone who knows about their markings. He picked out a gift for them, and he said he hopes its not in bad taste.
He reaches into the handkerchief and pulls out a roll of aged paper. He explains that it is an arcane marking tattoo that belonged to a great sage of the tower that allows the marked to move things with their mind. The sage improved on it and diluted its downsides and Agabarya would love to see it put to use rather than being stuck on paper. He warns Hornet that it goes on the skull and that it prevents hair growth, and they remark they keep their hair buzzed.
Ferryman was next. He asked for spell tomes and rituals, but Agabarya says there are not practioners here and they don't have an extensive selection of spells. But, he thinks a spell would not be enough of a reward. He has two things for Ferryman, remarking that he chose these off of looks and pure judgement. He disappears and returns shortly after, holding a black, silky scarf. It was wrinkled and moved slightly in its own breeze. He hands the scarf to Ferryman, and Hornet asks if this is Sage's scarf, which it is not but it is a similar one. Agabarya has a second item for him, and he pulls out a staff of some sort from his handkerchief. It was about the length of a cane and had a glowing orb of metal in the middle, making broken parts of the rod levitate next to it. He notes it is a set.
Agabarya walked up to me next, holding two stone slates with an amulet on top of it. The slates are sending slates; I've seen one of these before. Whatever you write on one shows up on the other. As I take the slate into my hands, I don't get anything relating to their history. The stones remind me of the way the ruins looked. I put it in my bag and he hands me the amulet next. He quietly whispered in my ear, explaining what it is capable of. It protects me and those around me from the cold, protects me, and lets me cast certain spells from it. He also warns me to be careful around lightning.
When I touched the amulet, I was put into a blizzard. I felt the strong, cold gusts of wind, the snow pelting my face. It is so cold; just minutes in this cold would be enough to kill. I feel a hand grasp around me and the pain from the blizzard starts to dissipate. Further out in the snow, I saw a bright blue flame coming from a giant bird. It begins flight, flying magnificently through the sky and out of view. My vision snapped to stormy night. I can feel the person wearing me has grown a connection. They are fighting a monster clouded in rain and darkness. A blue bolt of lightning comes right through its face and I feel the electricity through my whole body, up my spine and through to my toes. The vision ends. I thanked Agabarya for the amulet and told him I will take great care of it.
Fathom was next, and Agabarya pulled him aside to tell and give him his gift. I do not know what he got. When they return, Fathom asks if the tower can pay for transport to Zetsubou. Agabarya notes he can send us somewhere we have once been, noting he can send us back to Sinclair to get to our destination. He waved his handkerchief and threw it onto the ground, creating a black circle on the ground. He takes out a wand and points at the circle, and the circle glows into a sigil. We all jump in and arrive at the Underspire.
When we appeared in the teleportation circle at the Underspire, we were again met by the image of Sinclair before us. We ask if we can be teleported to Zetsubou and he says he will be there soon and reminding us his circle is not to be used as a daily commute. Not long after, he appears before us, coming out of one of those moving rooms. He is surprised to see us and says that getting to Zetsubou is easy at least. He warns us that the people at the circle we were going to get teleported to might not be the friendliest. We were told to just tell whoever is there that we were sent by him and that he will handle the consequences. Fathom asked if we would get sent to a circle in a hotel and Sinclair says we will not, as he is no longer allowed at this hotel. What hotel he is talking about, I don't know.
Hornet asked about cracks between planes. They said they found one of those cracks when they ended up here. Sinclair gets close to them, giving them a close look before noting they are both from Feyheim. Sinclair starts to explain that they were something called a "Planeswalker", which from my understanding are people who can travel between planes rather easily. He is unable to go back to Feyheim as he can't freely travel between realms and passage to that realm seems to allude him.
Fathom brings up the threads and the powers they give and Sinclair seems impressed that we know about them. He warns us to be careful around ruins and of the threads; some are nice but some are also dangerous. He specifically warns us to be wary of "red threads". He also said that we are very important, more than we seem to let on. We start to say our goodbyes before we are sent here, to Zetsubou.
I've seperated from Fathom as he decided to get into a squabble with this noble who was here when we teleported in. I've gone further ahead, sitting in the lobby while I overhear Fathom talking about this person stealing something. When they arrive to the lobby, the person disappears and moments later, Fathom jumps off! What is he thinking??
I rush to the edge to look down at him, falling hundreds of feet down this spire we teleported onto. I see a magnificent scaley creature appear, with giant wings and a long tail. It is diving straight down towards the city, with Fathom on its back. Moments later, a loud thud is heard and a cloud of smoke and stone dust appears. Hornet remarks we don't know him. I sincerely hope he is okay but in the future let's... not let him be the representative of the group to strangers.
